The conference is organized by the Institute of Intellectual Property and Market Law, Stockholm University, Wikimedia Sweden and the Swedish Library Association. It focuses on Text and Data Mining (TDM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and it will be held on June 14th at Stockholm University.

The conference aims to explore the legal and practical hurdles faced by researchers in making efficient use of TDM and AI methods. It will discuss the importance of flexible copyright norms, the challenges and possibilities that EU and national legislation pose for using and developing AI, and how this impacts the role of European AI projects on a global level. Finally, it will spotlight the pivotal role research libraries play in shaping AI advancements. The conference will be attended by academics, politicians and representatives of public authorities.

Speakers confirmed for the event include Felix Steffek, Professor of Law at the University of Cambridge; Teresa Nobre, Legal Director of Communia; Kacper Szkalej, Assistant Professor specializing in Law and Technology; Karin Grönvall, National Librarian, National Library of Sweden; Wilhelm Widmark, Library Director, Stockholm University Library; and Jutta Haider, Professor in Information Studies at the University of Borås.

Founded in 1956, Institute for Intellectual Property and Market Law (IFIM) is based at the Faculty of Law of Stockholm University.
