Welcome to our education pages!
When you study chemistry at Stockholm University, you work closely in small groups with some of the best chemists in the world. You learn how to put theory into practice with extensive lab time and real-life case studies.
MMK offers master's level courses as well as a PhD track. The Chemistry Section offers a very engaging and broad bachelor's programme, held in Swedish.
A master's degree in analytical chemistry teaches you to identify what something is made of - and gives you an edge in the job market

Bachelor's programmes
The first two years of the bachelor programme, held in Swedish, introduces you to the breadth of chemistry as a subject. In the third year you specialise in your field of interest and complete a diploma project.
PhD Programmes
Doctoral programme areas: Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. The 4-year programmes include both coursework and independent research.
Freestanding courses
MMK faculty give a number of freestanding courses at the advanced level that are also suitable for PhD students.

A dissertation defense today was not possible to carry through due to a disruption of order in the room. Police has dealt with the disorder and the premises are emptied.
A new intersectoral and interdisciplinary project between nine Swedish Universities and MAX IV – a Ph.D. programme called PRISMAS – launches in January 2023. The program is dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Horizon Europe's essential research and innovation areas. The project will create a connected network of next-generation X-ray experts, enabling various stakeholders to take full advantage of world-leading synchrotron facilities such as MAX IV, while tackling current societal challenges in the same breath.
Sahar Sultan and Erik Svensson Grape defended their thesis this week, congratulations to both of you for passing! And also, congrats Erik on getting the VR grant for post doc studies abroad!
