Arnold retired after 39 years at MMK!

Today we said goodbye to Arnold who is to retire after 39(!) years at MMK. He was sent of with cake, presents and speeches.

His main research area was soft materials especially liquid crystals and lipid membranes which were studied by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and molecular modelling. Arnold Maliniak is a very talented teacher and he has been involved in teaching and education for many years, both as a Director of Studies in the Department and in various review panels within the Faculty.

In recent years he has been a great support to the Head of Department in the management of the department. Arnold Maliniak's calm and friendly manner, combined with his humanism and belief in freedom and the individual, has been a great asset to the institution.

We wish him well in his new phase of life as a retiree, although we will miss him.
