1st ARTofMELT Science Workshop
The ARTofMELT science team met the first time after the expedition in May and June 20223 for a three-day science workshop at Stockholm University 22-24 April. The meeting was a great success and everyone left exhausted but also invigorated and eager to keep working together on understanding when, where and how the Arctic starts to melt in spring.
The meeting was held in the de Geer hall at the Geocenter, and gathered some 50 participants, most in person with a few joining over Zoom. We also welcomed a varying number of interested partners and guests to get a first peak at each others' research results. In addition to sharing results, we also discussed where to take this research into the future, including possible modeling projects, thematic and overview papers, special issue publications, a joint database at the Bolin Centre and potentials for outreach and societally relevant products from the expedition.
The workshop was generously sponsored by the International Meteorological Institute (IMI) and by a special Early Career Scientists travel funding grant from the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC).
