HT22 with MAP

Since last year, a chapter to the international organization MAP (Minorities and Philosophy) exists here at Stockholm University: MAP Stockholm! Below follows a short introduction of what MAP is, together with the events we are planning for the fall.

In short, MAP's mission is to address structural injustices in academic philosophy and to remove barriers that impede participation in academic philosophy for members of marginalized groups. Locally, this work is made possible by graduate student-led autonomous chapters, like MAP Stockholm.

For this fall, we are planning to continue our appreciated reading group. This term we will be reading "What is Race? Four Philosophical Perspectives" by Joshua Glasgow, Sally Haslanger, Chike Jeffers, and Quayshawn Spencer. The reading group is open to students on all levels, and is characterized by a prestigeless and open discussion environment (meetings will be held in english). We will start October 5 at 4pm and then meet every other Wednesday from 4pm-5pm. To sign up, send an e-mail to mapsthlm@philosophy.su.se. The reading group will continue to be on zoom.

We are also planning on inviting you all to a student session with an invited philosopher, but it is yet to be decided who will be invited and when the session will take place. More information will be sent out via our e-mail and our Facebook page.

All the best,
Alice, Andrea and Siska
