Information about exams

Courses normally require a written exam at the end. Here we have gathered information about the examination timetable for the current academic year, including resit exams, and our exam rules.

There are two main types of exams: an ordinary exam in connection with the completion of a course, and resit exams for students who have previously been registered on the course. For both types of exams you must register.

Every summer, Fysikum publishes an examination schedule that extends over the entire coming academic year. An ordinary exam is usually scheduled at the end of each course, whereas resits are usually scheduled in January, June and August.

As only advanced level courses are given in English, the English examination timetable here only shows exams for these courses. For the complete examination schedule, see the corresponding page in Swedish.

Exam rules at Stockholm University are a combination of central and local rules.

The Department of Physics has some additions and clarifications listed here:

  • Registration is mandatory for both ordinary and resit exams, and is primarily done through the web form on the department’s web page. Registration is done at least one week before the exam. A confirmation email from the web form is enough proof of registration.
  • Need for special pedagogical support should be reported before every exam. This is done by email to examination@fysik.su.se at least two weeks before the exam.
  • The identity check is done before the exam starts. An approved ID should be placed at the table during the exam.
  • Lists for placement in the examination room can occur. The examinees must follow the instructions from the invigilators regarding placement in the examination room.
  • Only those aids listed on the exam may be used. All other aids are forbidden. Graphing calculators or more advanced calculators are only allowed if explicitly mentioned on the exam. The examinee should borrow a calculator during the exam if advanced calculators are not allowed.
  • For toilet visits, the examinee should write his/her name and the time of the visit on a toilet list. Only one person at a time. The examinee is not allowed to leave the examination room for other reasons without special permission.

Violation of the central and local rules listed above can lead to disciplinary actions. It is the students responsibility to know of and follow these rules.
