Eight subjects ranked in the top 250 in the world

In Times Higher Education’s subject ranking for 2023, eight subjects at Stockholm University are ranked in the top 250 in the world. Physical Sciences was ranked on place 76 out of 1 307.

On 25 October the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject was presented. In the ranking universities all around the world are listed from their performances in 11 subjects. 

Stockholm University is ranked as follows:

Arts and Humanities (place 101–125 out of 663 universities), Business and Economics (place 176–200 out of 870), Computer Science (place 401–500 out of 974), Education (place 151–175 out of 655), Law (place 101–125 out of 290), Life Sciences (place 83 out of 1 017), Physical Sciences (place 76 out of 1 307), Psychology (place 201–250 out of 600) and Social Sciences (place 88 out of 941).

In Sweden, Stockholm University is ranked as follows: Arts and Humanities (place 2 with Uppsala University), Business and Economics (place 3), Computer Science (place 5 with Lund University), Education (place 2), Law (place 3 with Uppsala University), Life Sciences (place 3 with Lund University), Physical Sciences (place 1), Psychology (place 4 with Lund University and Uppsala University) and Social Sciences (place 4 with Lund University and Uppsala University).

The ranking by subject uses the same indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, based on 13 indicators within the areas teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.
