Students asked a physicist
Lovisa Jansson has a master's degree in physics from Fysikum and is now a doctoral student in the Department of Chemical Physics. ‘I met with 80 pupils from Sjöviksskolan who asked me questions about physics,’ says Lovisa. Teacher Hanna Lindberg prepared the questions with the classes. ‘The visit was greatly appreciated by both pupils and teachers,’ says Hanna.
Ask a physicist
The third-year pupils at Sjöviksskolan were given plenty of time before the visit to prepare ‘Questions for a physicist’.
"Teacher Hanna Lindberg and I went through the questions and prepared simple experiments to demonstrate the answers. Everything from how electricity travels and how aeroplanes can fly to why lemons float but limes don't! We demonstrated everything in the form of a ‘physics talk show’ where the teacher played the host and the ‘physicist’ was the guest of the day, along with around 80 pupils who were an attentive studio audience.
The visit was greatly appreciated by both students and teachers! The benefits were that the students learned more about friction, density and other physical phenomena and concepts through a varied approach. Many students were inspired by Lovisa and are now dream of becoming physicists!
