Background and purpose

The mentorship programme starts in the autumn of 2022 and lasts for about 8 months. Interested alumni are connected with current students who can apply for a mentor. Mentors and students meet approximately 5-6 times during the programme as well as in a number of workshops and social activities with other alumni and students at SU. The purpose of the program is to connect alumni with proactive and committed students for mutual benefit and to create a stronger bond between alumni, students and Stockholm University.

Are you an alumni?

If you have studied Political Science at Stockholm University you can become a mentor.

Why should you become a mentor?
1.    Help someone advance in their development by providing support, insight and guidance.
2.    Become a better listener by providing guidance for the best path forward is a mark of a good leader, and these skills are honed through mentorship.
3.    Gain new perspectives by interacting with the next generation entering the workforce, their hopes and expectation and how they see the world.
4.    Share the knowledge you have gained over the years, and in turn strengthen your own learnings.
5.    Expand your professional and personal networks by interacting with other mentors and new professionals in your field.

Are you a student?

All students at the Department of Political Science are welcome to apply for a mentor.

We expect a participating student to:
•    Be a thoughtful and constructive communicator with their mentor.
•    Be proactive yet respectful of the mentor’s time and capacity to meet and support.
•    Be a good listener, ask questions, ask for and be open for input and advice.
•    Set goals and plan how to meet them.
•    Be interested in expanding your network and building new relationships.
