The course "Introduction to Public Health Sciences" (PH001F1) is aimed at PhD students from all disciplinary backgrounds seeking to deepen their knowledge about public health and/or undertake advanced research in the field of public health.

Course content
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge in four public health related knowledge areas including level and distribution of health and ill-health, health determinants that contributes to ill-health, health policy with a focus on how different policies influence health outcomes, and health practices that promote health and prevent ill health. The course will focus on concepts, theories, models, analytical methods, and current research within the four knowledge areas. After the course, the student will be familiar with central theories, models and methods used in these four knowledge areas but also be able to relate to relate them to current research within these areas.
