Social inequalities in health (7.5 ECTS)

The purpose of the course "Social inequalities in health" (PH004F1) is to give knowledge about central theoretical and empirical aspects of social inequalities in health. The course includes an overview of how health is distributed across different group based on the social position in society (with regard to e.g. occupational class, education, income, foreign background, and sex/gender). The student will become familiar with and discuss various models that explains the association between social stratification, life chances, and health. The course focuses on concurrent research and aims to give a basic understanding of the research front.

Course content

More information

This course is offered in collaboration with the Master’s programme in public health sciences: Societal and individual perspectives. The teaching occasions are to be attended jointly with the master students. You will find more information in the PH004F1 Course plan (above).
