The visit of the Italian ambassador

In order to strengthen the scientific contacts between Stockholm University and Italy, a delegation from the Italian embassy was invited to the University together with researchers from various departments at Stockholm University. The visit was held at the Nordic Institute of Latin American Studies library

Present were the ambassador Michele Pala, the scientific attaché Augusto Marcelli and the director of the Italian Institute of Culture Francesco Di Lella.

From the Department of Romance studies and Classics, prof. Fanny Forsberg Lundell, head of department, welcomed everyone to the department, prof. Michele Colombo, presented Italian as a research subject, and prof. Thais Machado Borges presented the work of the Nordic Institute of Latin American studies, something that interests the ambassador especially since he served on that continent for 20 years.

In addition to these, three researchers with a strong connection to Italy presented their and their institutions' research. Prof. Anna Bortolozzi accounted for research in the department of History of Art and their contacts with Italy, mainly through the Swedish Institute in Rome. Prof. Arja Karivieri presented the department of Classical Archeology and the Swedish archaeological excavations taking place in Italy. Finally, Prof. Klas Nyberg's presented his research project, which is partially funded by the Fondazione Datini and the research at the department of Fashion Science at SU.

After the event, conversations continued over a cup of coffee.
