In 2018, Irene Elmerot was accepted to the Stockholm University doctoral school Language and Power. Her corpus-based thesis Decoding Discourse: A corpus linguistic study of evaluative adjectives and group nouns in Czech print news media (1989–2018) describes the representation of various social groups in the Czech news press over a 30-year period following the Velvet Revolution. This is achieved through the analysis of co-occurrences with adjectives classified according to the Subjectivity Lexicon for Czech (Veselovská & Bojar 2013). This compilation thesis – an intersectional study of nationalities and ethnicities, gender and occupational titles – also includes variables pertaining to religion and gross national income.
