Irene Elmerot awarded the Josef Dobrovský Fellowship

The Czech Academy of Sciences has awarded one of this year's Josef Dobrovský Fellowships to our department's PhD student in Czech linguistics, Irene Elmerot.

The fellowship provides her with accommodation and research opportunities in the centre of Prague for a few weeks.

“I’m very excited”, she states, “and will be discussing a post-doc project on the presence and absence of the theme of climate change in Czech TV news with some colleagues. Simultaneously, I can complete the final sections of my thesis on evaluative adjectives in Czech newspaper text.”

The scholarship is named after a renowned linguist, often referred to as the father of Slavic studies, who established the first Academy of Sciences in the region, and also made significant contributions to the field of botany.
