Bachelor's level courses
Gender and Sexuality (7.5 credits)
The course provides the students with knowledge of anthropological studies of gender and sexuality. The course examines how anthropologists historically have dealt with issues of gender and sexuality, particularly in view of men and women, homosexuality, and by extension, heteronormativity. The course also looks at current theories and debates of gender and sexuality.
Doctoral level
The PhD programme is a four-year fulltime education funded by the department. The programme is both exciting and demanding and awards the individual student great freedom in shaping the PhD project according to the student’s own theoretical and regional interests.
More about doctoral level studies
Doctoral positions are offered as funding is available at the department. Positions are usually listed in the beginning of the year with a deadline for applications in March. Any available positions will be posted here.

The student could also be asked to contribute with up to 20 percent of the contract time doing administrative duties and/or teaching at the department. Time spent on such duties will be compensated for by adding a fifth year to the doctoral program.
