Admission
In April you will receive a notification from Univesityadmission / Antagningen regarding your admission. No reply to them is necessary for this notification.
The students that are admitted will after that receive an email from the Department of Sociology with more information. Please note, the email from the department contains very important information for the admitted students if you want to keep your admission to one of our master's programmes.
Students on waiting list will be contacted by email if we have places left.
Application
Master’s programmes at Department of Sociology only have ONE admission round for ALL applicants with deadline in January the same year as your programme starts.
All applications to our master's programmes are made through the national website universityadmissions.se, or in Swedish through antagning.se.
Students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are required to pay both an application fee and a tuition fee.

Athena – our communication platform
Athean is the communication platform at Stockholm University. At Athena you’ll have access to all information about the course such as schedule, schedule changes, course material and more.
You log into Athena by using your university account.

Please note that to get notification about important information from the course you need to change the settings and activate notification to your email-address. You can do that in Settings that you find under your name in the right top corner.
Athena has a mobile app that you can use. The name of that app is itslearning. The app is free of charge and you can download it to iPhones and Android-mobiles. To get notification about important information from the course you need to change the settings to allow the app to send you notification.
Schedules and course descriptions
Register to the programme
Please register online at Ladok for students. You will receive information about deadlines from us. It is important that you register on time, otherwise you will lose your place!
If new at Stockholm University you first need to activate a university account to be able to register you.
International students with a temporary Swedish civic number (containing a P or a T) must get a one-time code to be able to activate the University account. You get the one-time code from Info center in the Student house.
Studying with a disability
Stockholm University provides various forms of special pedagogical support to students with long-term disabilities. Please contact Special pedagogical support at Student Services if you need support.
Make sure to also contact your study councellor at the Department of Sociology if you need extra support during lectures, seminars and examination. Please see contact information at the bottom of this page.

You can find us at Universitetsvägen 10B, floor 8 and 9 in one of the "blue houses" called "södra huset" (the south house) in entrance B.
