Incoming exchange students

This is a short step-by-step guide for incoming exchange students within the Erasmus+ programme at the Department of Statistics.

  • Control that there is a valid Erasmus+ exchange agreement between your home university and the Department of Statistics.
  • Check the list of courses taught in English at the Department of Statistics.
  • Contact the local exchange coordinator at your home university for further information about the nomination for outgoing exchange.
  • Ask your local exchange coordinator to send your nomination by email to studievagledare@stat.su.se. Deadline for the nomination for studies during the Autumn semester 2023 is 1 April, 2023. Deadline for Spring semester 2024 is 15 September, 2023.
  • Once the nomination has been submitted by your local exchange coordinator, the exchange coordinator at Department of Statistics will provide you with an Application Package.
  • The Application Package (Application Form and Transcript of Records) should be sent by e-mail to studievagledare@stat.su.se together with the nomination no later than 15 April, or 1 October. The exchange coordinator will send the Letter of Acceptance, Welcoming Letter and other practical information to you by e-mail.
  • Stockholm University´s Housing Office will contact all accepted exchange students by e-mail for the housing application.
  • Complete your Learning Agreement with the course selection and signatures before your arrival in Stockholm.

Profile

Stockholm University is the  largest university in Sweden, with over 70,000 undergraduate and master's students. It is located in Sweden's capital city, in the region’s center for higher education and research, close by both the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH and Karolinska Institutet (Medical education and research). Stocholm Univesity is situated in the the National City Park and Royal Djurgården, and the University is surrounded by natural beauty, cultural history, gardening and farm animals.

Examinations are arranged throughout the year with no fixed examination periods.

Language of instruction

Swedish and English.

Full time study load credits

30 ECTS credits per semester. Courses normally contain 7.5, 15 or 30 ECTS credits. One week of full-time studies equals 1.5 ECTS credits. The workload is 40 hours per week, including lectures, readings, assignments, seminars, computer labs and independent studies.

As stated in the syllabus for each course.

Swedish language courses on different levels are offered for free by the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism to all incoming exchange students at Stockholm University. More information about language courses are given during the Orientation Day.

Transcripts of records are sent to the home university approximately one month after the end of the semester.
