Event
Date: Tuesday 14 May 2024
Time: 09.00 – 15.00
Location: P402, Svend Pedersenrummet floor 4, Svante Arrheniusvägen 20A, and Zoom (se link below)
The aim of the SASUF-event is to arrange a meeting where researchers, teacher educators, teacher students, and other interested participants, share thoughts and experiences under the theme “Educating for sustainability”, specifically focusing on diversity in mathematics teacher education.
Diversity and related issues of inclusion and equity can be framed in different ways, depending on context, history and the institutions where the concepts are put in motion, to mention some. The case of SA and Sweden shows two very different contexts. The countries are diverse in different ways, and this is reflected in the whole educational system. Teacher education, diverse in itself, educate new teachers who should be prepared to teach diverse groups of students.
We will listen to, and discuss with, scholars from South Africa and Sweden. All participants are engaged in issues about diversity related to mathematics teacher education. The idea of involving different professionals from both South Africa and Sweden is to connect with those who are engaged and can affect teacher education, and we can also learn more about how the different practices connect in the two countries.
