My project address the growth of the insurance business in Sweden and how insurers influenced social policy in the emerging welfare state. I am currently working in three areas: First, the history of the welfare state, where I focus on the private-public interplay in social policy and ideas governing social insurance. Second, business history where I study the insurance industry and more specifically companies providing life insurances for the working class. Third, marketing and how marketing measures relate to welfare policy. I have been exploring the agency system in life insurance from a governmentality perspective.
