Researchers will make picture stones more understandable
Gotland's picture stones are unique spyholes to bygone times. A database of the stones is now being created making them more accessible to researchers and the public.
Six new honorary doctorates at Stockholm University
Stockholm University has chosen this year’s honorary doctors. They are Zhaojun Bai, Magnus Florin, Katja Franko, Phoebe Okowa, Camille Parmesan and Matthias Tschöp.
New research on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, doping and gambling (ANDTG) with an emphasis on comparing Nordic experience was presented at a conference hosted by the Center for Social Research on Alcohol and Drugs (SoRAD) and the Department of Public Health Sciences at Stockholm University 17–19 April.
In cooperation with the Institute of World Economy and Politics (IWEP) and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), Stockholm Center for Global Asia (SCGA) organized an international academic workshop with prominent participants from India, Sweden, and Vietnam.
Fishing for herring is prohibited in various parts of the Baltic Sea during April and May. The aim is to protect the endangered herring spawning. But the decision goes against the advice of Swedish experts. The closures occur when there is little large-scale trawling going on, and will mainly affect small-scale coastal fisheries.
