At the Innovation Office at Stockholm University, we are dedicated to supporting researchers in developing ideas that can create value beyond academia. Our work is driven by a commitment to making knowledge accessible, impactful, and relevant to society.

Below, you will meet our innovation advisors, an experienced team who guide, challenge, and support innovators throughout their journey, from early-stage ideas to real-world application.

Yasmin Andersson

As an innovations advisor, I support researchers to translate their research findings into societal impact. This includes idea development and validation, and requires good intellectual property-, financing- and implementation strategies.
I have a M. Sc. in Chemistry and a Ph. D. in Life Sciences from SU. I have worked in several startups and scaleups in the pharma and biotechnology industries as well as the academic research infrastructure at SciLifeLab. This has given me insights into the full innovation journey from academic research to commercialisation.

Monica Ekberg

As an innovations advisor, my strengths lie in having experienced the full innovation journey, through both successes and setbacks. My background in research infrastructure and funding provides me with a strong understanding of where to seek external support beyond Stockholm University. In addition, I bring an extensive network spanning academia, the innovation ecosystem, and industry. I am passionate about engaging with researchers, nurturing new ideas, and firmly believe that with the right drive and determination, no ambition is out of reach.

I hold a master’s degree and a PhD from Stockholm University in the field of Life Sciences. Following my PhD, I spent several years working in basic research and validation within a range of startup companies, taking on roles as a researcher, team leader, and project manager – altogether contributing to five different ventures. These companies progressed to varying degrees, from remaining within academia to scaling into established organisations with several hundred employees.

In more recent years, I have worked with research support in different capacities: initially at the regional level as a project manager, contributing to the development of research infrastructures and funding initiatives, and subsequently with dedicated research funding at the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).

Ivo Todorov

In my role as an innovations advisor, I provide support to researchers at Stockholm University in the development of innovative ideas and solutions that address societal challenges. Given my academic background as an experimental cognitive psychologist, my primary focus is on the fields of social sciences and the humanities.

Feel free to reach out to me at any stage of your project or idea development. I'm available to act as a sounding board, providing valuable insights and guidance. Whether you're in the early stages of brainstorming or further along in the implementation process, I'm here to support you. My role goes beyond offering simple advice; I'm interested in helping you navigate the path from idea to concept and all the way to execution. This includes connecting you with relevant resources, partners, and strategies to bring your ideas to life.

Martin Arvidsson

As an innovations advisor, my role is to guide scientists at Stockholm University through a landscape that is not always familiar. They will encounter new terminology, new deliverables, demands and values. My academic background is in psychophysics, and I made a career out of designing and selling innovation projects across a wide spectrum of industries. If you want to make an impact with your research outside of academia, I’ll do my best to help you along the way.
