Partnerships and collaborations
Stockholm University has a broad collaboration with the society. Collaboration contributes to developing research.
Collaboration also contributes to link people from different areas and with different knowledge. Researchers collaborate with schools, companies, authorities and organizations, are experts in the media and participate in the public debate.
Businesses and Organisations
Stockholm University collaborates broadly with the business sector. We work with both large and small actors across a range of fields, with the aim of creating mutual benefit through knowledge exchange, innovation, and societal development.
CIVIS – A European university collaboration
CIVIS is a collaboration between eleven European universities and brings together almost 600,000 students and employees.
The purpose of CIVIS is to facilitate cooperation across national borders and to increase the mobility of students, teachers and other staff.

Collaboration between Stockholm University and the City of Stockholm
The collaboration between the City of Stockholm and Stockholm University is primarily focused on climate and environment and on social sustainability. The goal is to strengthen and systematize the manifold collaborations already in existence in many places, and also to improve the conditions for future collaboration.
The agreement has led to several projects, for example in social sustainability. This is an area where the education in social work collaborates with the Social services to integrate theory and practice at an early stage in the training. This in turn strengthens the connection to working life and improves the work environment in the city’s social institutions.
Events and workshops
Stockholm University regularly organizes workshops and other events in collaboration with the City of Stockholm, with the aim of fostering dialogue, developing project ideas, and identifying shared societal challenges.
One example is a joint workshop series linked to calls within the EU programme Horizon Europe, where researchers and municipal officials meet to explore opportunities for collaboration. These initiatives promote needs-driven knowledge development and open new pathways for sustainable societal development.
These forums provide a platform for researchers and city officials to connect, exchange perspectives, and develop ideas for future collaboration.
If you are a researcher at Stockholm University, keep an eye on the internal events calendar for upcoming activities.
