Advice in the event of an attack
The risk of an attack on Stockholm University is very low, but the consequences of such an event would be serious. Please read the security advice to be prepared in case something happens.
The term 'ongoing deadly violence' (PDV) means that one or more perpetrators targeting a location – such as a school or public space – with the intent to harm people. The probability of such an attack occurring at the university is assessed as being very low.
In the event of an attack
If an attack occurs, follow these three steps: run, hide, alert.
1. Run
Ensure your own safety. Leave the area as quickly and safely as possible, avoiding crowds.
2. Hide
If you cannot leave the area, seek a location that you consider safe and that offers protection. Stay alert to what you see and hear, and try to remain calm.
Set your mobile phone to silent mode and turn off vibration.
Do not call anyone who may be in the risk area, as a mobile signal could reveal the location of someone in hiding.
3. Alert
Once you are safe, call the police on 112. The police need the following information:
- the location of the incident
- what has happened
- the number of perpetrators observed
- the weapons used
- the appearance of the perpetrators
- the last known location of the perpetrators.
Warn those in danger and assist those in need.
