About the faculty
The Faculty of Law at Stockholm University is the country's largest law faculty, both in terms of number of researchers and students. The faculty represents virtually all fields of law.
The Faculty of Law is one of the four faculties at Stockholm University. The faculty has one department and eight institutes and centres.

Faculty management
The Faculty of Law is part of the Human Sciences at Stockholm University and is governed by a Faculty Board. The main representative of the Board is the Dean. Under the Faculty Board, there are two committees, one for research and one for education, each chaired by a vice-dean. The Faculty's governing body has the overall responsibility for education and research and makes decisions on strategic issues.

Faculty Board
The Faculty of Law Board is the Faculty of Law's highest decision-making body.
The Board is responsible for all matters relating to education, research and postgraduate education within the Faculty. Professor Jane Reichel is the Chair of the Board and Dean of the Faculty. Student representatives are also members of the Board.
A large part of the Board's work is carried out in two specially established committees, the Education Committee and the Research Committee. Matters for the Board and the committees are prepared by the Faculty of Law Office.

Faculty of Law Office
The main function of the Faculty of Law Office is to provide support to the Faculty Board, the Research Committee, the Education Committee and the Academic Appointments Board. In addition, the office provides some support to the Department of Law.

History
The Faculty of Law was founded in 1907. The Faculty was intended to provide an alternative to the more closed academic environments of the traditional universities.
