Ancient wolves on remote Baltic Sea island reveal link to prehistoric humans
Scientists have found wolf remains, thousands of years old, on a small, isolated island in the Baltic Sea – a place where the animals could only have been brought by humans. The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by researchers at the Francis Crick Institute, Stockholm University, the University of Aberdeen and the University of East Anglia, suggests that grey wolves may have been managed or controlled by prehistoric societies.
Two ERC Consolidator Grants to Stockholm University
Two researchers at Stockholm University receive the prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant 2025. The two grants go to Lisa Dellmuth and Evan O’Connor, researchers in international relations and astronomy respectively.

Metal-Organic Frameworks, awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2025, is a material so porous it can trap toxic molecules like a sponge, store gas, and in the future, release cancer drugs exactly where they’re needed. Research on MOFs has been going on at Stockholm University for twenty years, basic research aiming for future solutions.
