The Faculty Board is the decision-making body of the Faculty of Social Sciences. According to the Higher Education Ordinance, the Board is ultimately responsible for education at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level, as well as for the research conducted within the faculty. The Faculty Board includes representatives of teachers, researchers and students. The chair of the Faculty Board is Dean Yvonne Svanström.

The decisions that the board may make are set out in the Faculty of Social Sciences' decision-making and delegation regulations. The Faculty Board is also responsible for certain types of decisions in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act and the Higher Education Ordinance, which can be found on the website of the Swedish Council for Higher Education and in Stockholm University's delegation regulations.

The Faculty Board has also appointed various bodies to prepare specific issues.

Members of the Faculty Board of Social Sciences

In 1964, four years after Stockholm University became a university, the Faculty of Social Sciences was established. However, social science research and education have been an important part of the university for longer than that, but then within the Faculty of Humanities. With a national higher education reform in 1964, parts of the humanities faculties were broken out and formed social science faculties. This happened simultaneously at most universities in Sweden.

In connection with the faculty's 50th anniversary in 2014, the book "Faculty of Social Sciences 1964-2014" was published. The book is a compilation of the history of the Faculty and its departments from 1964 to 2014.
