Accommodation for visiting researchers and doctoral students
Stockholm University offers a limited number of furnished apartments and rooms for international researchers and doctoral students. This page explains how to apply and what you need to know before moving in.
As the number of university accommodations is limited, it’s important that you also look for housing on your own. This page also includes information on how to search for housing in Stockholm.
Who can apply
You are eligible to apply if all of the following apply:
- You are an international visiting researcher or doctoral student.
- You are affiliated with a department at Stockholm University.
- You are staying for at least three months.
- You are conducting research at 50 percent of full-time or more.
Staying with your spouse or family
You are welcome to stay with your spouse or family in any researcher housing that is not marked as shared in the preference selection list.
Please include information about your spouse or family members in your application.

Apply for accommodation
To apply, fill in the application form and include
- your personal details
- at least five housing preferences
- a signed Certificate for accommodation (template below)
- a valid photo ID.
Your application will be placed in the housing queue once all required documents are submitted. Accommodation is offered based on availability.
