Docentbacken
Docentbacken, commonly known as Lappis, is located in the scenic surroundings of Norra Djurgården, in the heart of the Royal National City Park. It is just a ten-minute walk from Stockholm University’s Campus Frescati.

At Docentbacken, 31 apartments are rented to international guest researchers and doctoral students affiliated with Stockholm University.
The buildings were constructed in the late 1960s, and many of the apartments are rented in their current condition. The minimum rental period is six months, and the maximum is one year.
The area is about a ten-minute walk from Stockholm University’s Campus Frescati and the Universitetet underground station. From there, the red line takes you to the city centre in just five minutes. Alternatively, bus 50 runs from Professorslingan to Universitetet station in about five minutes.
Rent
- Studio apartment: SEK 5,250–8,000 per month
- Larger apartment: SEK 9,900–13,750 per month
Accommodation details
Studio apartments (23–36 square metres) feature a combined living and sleeping area, a kitchenette or separate kitchen, and a bathroom with toilet and shower.
One-bedroom apartments (60–70 square metres) include a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom with toilet and shower or bathtub. Some of the apartments also have a balcony.
All apartments are furnished with a table or desk, chair, mattress, wardrobe or drawers, lamps, and basic kitchenware. Some apartments are also furnished with a bookshelf, sofa or armchair, and coffee table. Studios have a single bed, and one-bedroom apartments have a double bed.
All apartments include a stove and a refrigerator with either a freezing compartment or a separate freezer. Larger apartments also have an oven.
You need to bring your own duvet, pillow, bed linen, and towels.

Living in Docentbacken
Docentbacken is equipped with essential facilities such as internet, laundry, parking, postboxes, and recycling, making it convenient for daily living.
Internet
To activate the internet connection at Docentbacken, you must have a Swedish personal identity number.
Laundry at Docentbacken 1A and 1B
A laundry room is located in the basement of Docentbacken 1A. Use your basement key to open the laundry room door. To book a laundry slot, use the booking board outside the laundry room. Move the booking cylinder to your preferred time using the small cylinder key.
Laundry at Docentbacken 3–13
Laundry rooms are located on the ground floor of Docentbacken 3, 7, and 11. Use your basement key to open the door. To book a laundry slot, write your name on the schedule located outside the laundry room.
Laundry rules
- Only one booking is allowed at a time.
- If a booked slot is not used, another tenant may take over the slot after one hour.
- The drying cupboard may be used for 30 minutes after your time ends
- Turn off the lights and close all doors and windows when you leave
- Clean the laundry room after use, according to the instructions posted inside the room.
- Report any machine issues as soon as possible by calling 08-410 828 50.
- PostRecyclingRecycling roomYou can recycle glass, plastic, clean metal cans, small cardboard items, newspapers, light bulbs, and batteries in the appropriate bins. Instructions are posted inside the room.
- A recycling room is located at the entrance of Docentbacken 3. Use your electronic key to enter through the garage, then open the door marked Miljörum.
- Household waste should be placed in the disposal chutes located in the stairwells.
Let wet waste drain, place it in a sealed plastic bag, and carefully open and close the chute lid when disposing. - Mail is delivered through the letterbox in your apartment door.
