Other participants in the discussion included Dave Charlton, deputy spokesman for the ATLAS experiment at CERN LHC, and Jonas Strandberg, one of the Swedish researchers active in the experiment.

ATLAS is one of the two major experiments that announced in 2012 that they had discovered the particle - the Higgs boson - which confirmed that the theory Englert and Higgs presented in 1964 is an accurate description of the universe. Four Swedish research groups, including groups from Stockholm University and KTH, are members of the ATLAS experiment, and also contributed to last year's discovery.

The panel discussion with the Nobel Laureates was jointly arranged between the research groups in elementary particle physics at KTH and Stockholm University.
