About Aula Magna

Aula Magna is Stockholm University’s large meeting facility. Completed in 1997, the building is one of architect Ralph Erskine’s premier accomplishments. It’s light and airy, fitted with light wood and generous walls of windows that overlook stately oaks.

Here you can read more about the building and the art in Aula Magna. The video below showcases Aula Magna’s beautiful setting and includes a short introduction to the building. (At present only in Swedish.)

The Auditorium

The Auditorium is our largest meeting facility with room for up to 1200 people. It is one of the largest of its kind in Stockholm. It can be divided into two sections with a partition wall and will then accommodate up to 637 and 557 persons, respectively.

The Auditorium is shaped like an amphitheatre with acoustics and advanced technology custom designed for conferences, presentations and lectures.

Mingle and exhibitions

In Aula Magna there are several spaces for both small and large mingling events and we have plenty of room for exhibitions of different kinds.

Mezzaninen i Aula Magna The Mezzanine is the perfect place for receptions or smaller lunches. It can host a wine and small bites reception for up to 50 people. This terrace-like space offers stunning views over Aula Magna’s gallery and the campus itself..
Galleriet i Aula Magna The Gallery in Aula Magna, with a lovely view of the natural environment, is an ideal setting for exhibitions as well as for receptions with coffee or even buffets, for up to 500 people. When combined, the Gallery and Foyer can accommodate up to 1000 people.

Foajén i Aula Magna The Foyer, located just inside the entrance, springs from the granite cliff which inspired the architecture. Here you find space for exhibitions, a fully staffed cloakroom, coffee service and receptions.
