Guests to the ceremony

Graduating students are welcome to invite guests to the ceremony and the following reception. The number of guests depends on the number of invited graduates and will be printed on the invitation card.

The Diploma, a ceremonial memento to those present

The diploma that graduating masters' students receive during the ceremony is not legal proof of their degree (not to be confused with the degree certificate, sent by mail) but a ceremonial memento of the conferment ceremony. The diploma is given only to those present at the ceremony.

Rehearsal in Aula Magna at 16.15 is obligatory

In order to ensure the proper ceremonial tone for the Conferment of Master’s Degrees, an obligatory rehearsal will be held in Aula Magna at 16.15 that same day. The rehearsal is only for the graduating students. Doors will open for their guests at 17.30.

The ceremony

The conferment ceremony, which is held mostly in Swedish, will start at 18:00. All guests are expected to be seated at 17.45. The ceremony begins and ends with massed standards and contains, in addition to the conferment, speeches, songs and music. The ceremony ends between 19.45 and 20.00, depending on the number of participants, and is followed by a reception in the Gallery in Aula Magna.

Dress

For the Conferment of Master’s Degrees, the standard dress code is business/informal. This means a (dark) suit, a dress, evening gown or suit and skirt. For other guests no dress code is required.

Photography and live broadcast

Professional photographers will take group photos during the ceremony. The photos will be published on-line shortly after the ceremony and a link to the photos will be sent to the participants.

The ceremony is broadcast live and the film will be stored on www.su.se/play after the ceremony.  Questions on the broadcast may be sent to mediaproduktion@su.se.

Reception after the ceremony

After the ceremony, all participants and their guests are invited to a reception in the Gallery and in the Foyer, with drinks and light snacks.

Cancellations must be made in writing to the organizers: magisterpromotion@su.se. Participation in the ceremony is free of charge, but if you do not wish to attend and fail to cancel before Tuesday the week before the ceremony you will be charged an administration fee of SEK 200.
