The universities have been selected based on their number of Web of Science indexed publications in the period 2014-2017.

The Leiden Ranking includes various rankings and with regards to the indicator that shows the proportion of Stockholm University’s articles that belong to the world’s 10 percent most quoted within their fields (PP top 10%), Stockholm University is placed 160 in the world. The list is topped by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University and Stanford University.

In Sweden, Stockholm University is placed number three after Karolinska Institutet and Chalmers University of Technology.

When it comes to the proportion of Stockholm University’s articles that belong to the world’s 1 percent most quoted within their fields (PP top 1%) Stockholm University is placed 75 in the world.

A new category of indicator this year is open access and here Stockholm University is ranked 84 in the world with about 60 percent publications that are free to read in any form. Stockholm University is in the first place in Sweden in this category, Linköping University is in second place and Karolinska Institutet in third place.
