The QS World University Ranking is regarded as one of the most prestigious ranking lists in the world of higher education. This year’s edition included the top 1 000 universities around the world and more than 5 500 universities were evaluated and considered for inclusion. Stockholm University holds place 181, ten places higher than last year (191).

In Sweden, Stockholm University is among the five top universities after Lund University (97), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (98), Uppsala University (124) and Chalmers University of Technology (139).

Earlier this year QS released their annual World University Rankings by Subject 2020. Stockholm University ranks as the top university in Sweden in regards to six subjects:

  • Linguistics
  • Philosophy
  • Earth & Marine Sciences
  • Environmental Studies
  • Social Policy & Administration
  • Sociology
