This year’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, the so-called Shanghai ranking, made by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, ranks Stockholm University at place 77 in the list of World Universities 2015. The ranking is one of the most acclaimed in the world, where universities considered the best based on criteria such as numbers of published scientific articles, number of highly cited researchers in various subject categories, numbers of Nobel laureates and quality of education, are listed.

Similar to previous years, the top positions are held by American universities, with Harvard on top followed by Stanford and MIT. Karolinska Institutet is at the top among the Swedish universities, at place 48. Uppsala University is placed at 61, and Stockholm University at 77, one place up from last year’s position at 78. No other Swedish universities are listed in the top 100 university list.
