Sow & Grow – a gardening group for health and stress relief
Would you like to try a different way to manage the pressures of academic life? Research shows that gardening and spending time in nature can contribute to both recovery and better health.
At our group activity Sow & Grow, we meet outdoors in the beautiful surroundings of Campus Frescati to garden in raised beds. Together, we follow the seasons and explore how we can use nature to enhance both our physical and mental wellbeing.
We meet on Wednesday afternoons between 15 April and 17 June, and finish with a reunion and harvest celebration on 2 September.

Content
- Growing vegetables and flowers in raised beds: We’ll explore the characteristics of different plants and learn how to care for them. Being outdoors, working with the soil, and watching things grow can be both calming and beneficial for your health.
- Mindfulness: Each session includes elements of mindfulness. Research shows that mindfulness helps us relax, stay present in the moment, and recharge our energy.
- Other activities: On a few occasions, we’ll try other nature-based wellbeing activities such as forest bathing, qigong, or study visits.
