The reception was spread over two evenings, with students from different faculties present on different days. The students invited were non-EU students, most of whom will be unable to attend the master’s ceremony in the fall (due to visa restrictions).

The event was greatly appreciated by the attending soon-to-be alumni, who were welcomed at each occasion by their respective Deputy Vice President and the Alumni Relations Team. It was an eye-opening event with students giving feedback on their experiences at Stockholm University and in Sweden. Among other things, students shared their concerns on the need for increased support from the university, specifically in providing housing for tuition-paying international master’s students.

Especially appreciated by the student guests was seeing the mansion and being given a guided art tour by the art curator, Camilla Hjelm. Many have since the receptions been in contact with the alumni relations team and already 10 have registered to participate in the 2019-2020 Ask our Alumni project which is kicking off with an After-Work on May 9.

The Farewell Reception will become an annual event as a complement to the master’s ceremony. This year the receptions were an initiative by and cooperation within the External Relations and Communications Office.
