Double Master's degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics - a collaboration between University of Milano-Bicocca and Stockholm University
Our Master’s programme in Astronomy and Astrophysics is a two-year programme offered in close collaboration with the University of Milano-Bicocca. Students who begin their studies at Stockholm University complete the first year within our programme, focusing on core and advanced courses in astronomy and astrophysics.
Students who are subsequently admitted to the double Master’s degree track have the opportunity to spend their second year at the University of Milano-Bicocca. This final year consists of specialised coursework and an independent Master’s thesis project. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are awarded a double Master’s degree, receiving one diploma from the University of Milano-Bicocca and one from Stockholm University, providing a strong international academic profile.

How to apply - students at Stockholm University
Eligible students within the Master’s programme in Astronomy and Astrophysics at Stockholm University have the opportunity to apply for one year of studies at the University of Milano-Bicocca, leading to a double Master’s degree.
Applications are submitted through the Erasmus exchange framework. Students first apply to the Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University. Applications are assessed by the department, and selected candidates are then nominated to our partner university, the University of Milano-Bicocca.
Application period: 15 January to 15 February.
Incomming students from University of Milano-Bicocca
Students admitted to the Master’s Degree Programme in Astrophysics and Space Physics at the University of Milano-Bicocca apply for the double master’s degree through their home university. Once they are nominated, application instructions for Stockholm University courses will be sent individually to each nominated student.
Stockholm University will place all incoming students on a student housing waiting list, which gives them a high chance of receiving accommodation.
