Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics!
The students and faculty at our department are dedicated to exploring and teaching a broad range of fundamental topics in biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics and neurochemistry. Our research spans from atoms to organisms and provides new knowledge of importance for both science and society.

DBB belongs to the faculty of science and is mainly located at the Arrhenius Laboratories for Natural Sciences at the Stockholm university Frescati Campus. A number of our research groups are also located at the Science for Life Laboratory in Solna.
Of our around 250 staff, around 60 are PhD students engaged in the department’s internationally highly recognized research. The Department is also deeply involved in teaching, with courses at all undergraduate levels, including a wide range of Master courses. A close link between the undergraduate programs and frontline research has long been a tradition at DBB.
I hope that you will find the information you need at our website and feel free to contact me or any of my colleagues at the Department.
