Written examinations at DSV

Here you will find information about exams at DSV, from registration and exam rooms to rules, marking and review.

Most courses end with an exam that you register for in Daisy. To take the exam, you must be registered on the course and present valid identification. This page also provides information about how to cancel your registration for an exam, exam regulations and who to contact if you have any questions.

To participate in the exam

You must:

  1. Be enrolled for the course.
  2. Register for the exam in Daisy. Registration (or cancellation, if needed) made no later than registration deadline, usually a week before the day of the exam.
  3. Bring a valid identification/ID .
    Following documents are accepted as proof of identity:
  • Valid passport. Temporary passports are not accepted.
  • Valid Swedish national identity card.
  • Valid Swedish driving licence.
  • Valid Swedish sis-marked identity card or identity card issued by a Swedish governmental agency, for example the Swedish Tax Agency.
  • Valid national identity card issued to citizens of EU/EEA countries.
  • Note that foreign driving licences, residence permit cards, post, bank or tax cards are not accepted as proof of identity.

New rules for entry to the examination room from 1 March

Admission to the examination room takes place at two scheduled entry times:

  • The first admission closes 15 minutes before the examination begins. Students who arrive after this time must wait until the second admission.
  • The second admission takes place 45 minutes after the examination has begun. Information about the examination will be provided outside the room shortly before admission.

 

If you are registered for an exam and find that you are unable to attend, it is very helpful for the exam administration if you cancel your registration in Daisy. If registration has closed, you do not need to cancel, but please email the Examination Office to let them know you will not be attending. This is not required, but it helps with planning. Your registration will be automatically removed after the exam has taken place.

Halls and classrooms for exams are visible in your personal view in Daisy and announced no later than one day prior to the exam date. Most of the time classrooms in the Nod Building are used as well as halls on Campus Frescati.

Exams are graded within 15 working days after the examination date. The graded exam is scanned and published as a PDF file in your Daisy view. You will receive an email notification when your exam is available in Daisy.

If you have comments or questions regarding the grading, you should send them by email according to the teacher’s instructions.

Anonymous examinations

Stockholm University applies anonymous examinations. This means that the examiner does not know which student has written the exam. Each exam is identified by an anonymous code. You must write this code on all submitted pages instead of your name and personal identity number.

Grading system

Assessment is made according to the seven-grade scale A–F.
How final grades are calculated

Appeals and review of exams

You have the right to review your exam and ask the examiner questions about the marking. There is no specific time limit for submitting an appeal, but it should be done within a reasonable time after receiving your graded exam, while the examiner still has the assessment fresh in mind.

The department takes cheating very seriously. It will lead to disciplinary measures with suspension from studies for a certain period of time.

All use of unauthorized aids, having a mobile phone in your pocket or talking to others during the exam is considered cheating. You, as a student, are obliged to follow the rules below. The invigilator will decide if there are grounds to dismiss a student due to disruptive behaviour.

Rules for taking an exam at DSV:

  • Sit according to the placement list - you may not choose your own seat in the exam room.
  • 45-minute rule - no one are allowed to leave the examination room during the first 45 minutes after the start of the examination. You are not allowed to enter later than 45 minutes after the start of the examination. If the exam is written in several halls, it is important that you go to the room you have been seated in. The invigilator will help you and refer you to the correct room.
  • It is not permitted to leave the room until the invigilator has received your signature on the attendance list.
  • You must present an ID card to the invigilator on request.
  • Only permitted aids are allowed during the exam. Permitted aids will be announced during the lectures before the exam. Students who cheat are suspended from studies.
  • It is prohibited to talk during the examination.
  • You are not allowed to use any other writing papers or note pads than the ones provided by the invigilator.
  • You are obliged to follow the invigilator's instructions.
  • Outerwear and bags are to be placed at designated locations.
  • All electronic equipment, including mobile phones, is forbidden during the exam and must be turned off and placed in a bag or in outerwear.
  • On the cover page, you must indicate which questions you have answered and how many pages you are submitting. 
  • The information in the header of all submitted sheets must be completed within the allocated time frame.
  • Remember to wright the correct course code on your exam.
