Information for Admitted Students
If you have been admitted to a program at the Department of Criminology, here you can find information on how to register, our learning platform, what it means to be conditionally admitted, and how the waiting list process works. Welcome to Spring Term 2026!
Registration
Once you have activated your university account following the instructions above, you need to register for the program’s first course (or courses if you are admitted to a master’s program). Registration is done in Ladok. To log in, use either eduID or Antagning.se.
Registration period: January 7–12, 2026.
If you do not register by January 12, you will be considered to have declined your place, and it will be offered to a student on the waiting list. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure your registration is completed successfully.
Note: You cannot activate your university account until registration opens on January 7.

Athena – Our Learning Platform
We use the learning platform Athena for all our programs. Here you will find all information about your courses and upcoming assignments. We recommend familiarizing yourself with Athena well before the course starts.
If you want to receive notifications about updates in your program, messages from teachers, and more, you will need to adjust your settings and allow the app to send notifications. Instructions for this can be found in the Service Portal.

Course Start and Introduction
The Department of Criminology does not hold formal roll calls for its programs; only online registration is required. Your program starts with the first scheduled session of the initial course. Usually, the first lecture also includes an introduction to the program.
Conditionally Admitted Students
If you are conditionally admitted (VI), it means that at the time of selection, you did not fully meet the eligibility requirements for the program.
During week 2, we will manually remove the condition for all students who have become eligible. Once the condition is removed, you can register online as usual (following the instructions above), but not before then.
This manual process is time-consuming, and our capacity to respond to emails about it is limited. We therefore ask that you wait until January 12 to contact us if you cannot register online despite meeting the eligibility requirements. If there is an error, we will assist you then.
Important: If you are conditionally admitted and cannot meet the requirements before online registration closes on January 12, you need to confirm to us that you wish to keep your place. Email your confirmation to studentexpeditionen@criminology.su.se
. If we do not receive confirmation, your place will be offered to another applicant.
Once we receive your confirmation, you have three weeks to submit the required documentation. You must demonstrate full eligibility by February 9. If you do not meet the requirements by then, you will lose your place in the program.
Email studentexpeditionen@criminology.su.se
Waiting List
There are no formal waiting list sessions for our programs. Any available spots will be offered via email. Places are allocated according to the order set by the admissions office.
If you are offered a place, we expect a prompt response (within one day). If you are still interested, please monitor your email carefully between January 14 and 19. If you do not accept a place within one day, it will be offered to the next applicant on the waiting list.
Admissions and waiting list processing are time-consuming. Our ability to answer questions about individual cases is therefore limited, and we cannot track your position on the waiting list during this period.
