The Stockholm Criminology Symposium annually attracts around 500 participants from all over the world - researchers, policy makers and practitioners who want to learn from the latest and most significant research findings in crime policy and criminology.

The Symposium also hosts the award ceremony for this year's winners of the Stockholm Prize in Criminology - an international award for outstanding achievements in criminological research or the practical application of research findings in the field of law enforcement and the promotion of human rights.

The 2024 Stockholm Prize in Criminology is awarded to American professors Gary LaFree and Tom R. Tyler for their research on the democratic legitimacy and rule of law in the relationship between the state and its citizens.

The symposium is organised by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) on behalf of the Swedish government.
