The Department of Criminology welcomes this year’s recipients of the Stockholm Prize in Criminology, Professors Charis E. Kubrin and Mark W. Lipsey. During the seminar, they will present current research on criminal justice reform, decarceration, juvenile offending, and evidence-based practice.

Charis E. Kubrin, Professor at the University of California, Irvine, will discuss California’s far-reaching criminal justice reforms and how reductions in prison and jail populations have affected crime and public safety. Is it possible to reduce the use of incarceration without compromising public safety?

Mark W. Lipsey, Professor at Vanderbilt University, will speak about evidence-based practice in juvenile justice and juvenile offending. He will discuss both the current state of knowledge and the challenges that remain in translating research into practice. What lessons from the United States may be relevant in a Swedish context?
