Seminar
Date:
Thursday 9 December 2021Time:
13.00 – 15.00Location:
The Library at the Department of Culture and AestheticsPapakonstantinou’s productions are known for their formal explorations that involve multimedia, music and philosophical questions, often with a connection to the ancient Greek classics. In her feminist rewriting of Euripides’ play, she has wanted to give Alcestis, who sacrifices her life for her husband, her long-awaited restoration.
The conversation will revolve around questions of adaptation, critical rewriting, the significance of mythical tales, and the meanings of Euripides’ play and its resonances today.
Chair: Magnus Tessing Schneider.
