Ivar Westerberg's will defend his PhD thesis titled “The evolutionary interplay between transposable elements and genome defense in filamentous fungi”. Westerberg was supervised by Hanna Johannesson (DEEP, Stockholm University and the Royal Swedish Academy of Science (KVA)), and co-supervised by Aaron Vogan (Uppsala University), and Tanja Slotte (DEEP, Stockholm University)

The opponents will be professor Cédric Feschotte from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Cornell University. The committee will consist of Helena Westerdahl (Lund University), Åke Olson (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU), Urban Friberg (Linköping University), and Katharina Pawlowski (Stockholm university (DEEP); reserve).
