Nicklas Nordfors defended his thesis in economics

On 6 September, Nicklas Nordfors defended his thesis about urbanisation and international trade in developing countries.

About the thesis

Nicklas Nordfors’ doctoral thesis, Essays on Development and the Environment, consists of three independent essays. In it, he examines, among other things, urbanisation in low- and middle-income countries and the relationship between city growth and population growth.

About the defence

Guy Michaels, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, was the opponent. The grading committee included Tessa Bold, Institute for International Economic Studies, Niklas Bengtsson, Uppsala University, and Shon Ferguson, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Also present were the chairperson Ann-Sofie Kolm, and supervisors Anna Tompsett and Andreas Madestam from the Department of Economics.

In September, Nicklas Nordfors will begin as a researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Gothenburg.
