Miika Päällysaho defended his thesis in economics
On 11 October, Miika Päällysaho defended his thesis in labour, public and health economics.
About the thesis
Miika Päällysaho’s doctoral thesis is titled Essays in Labor, Public, and Health Economics. The thesis consists of four essays, with topics such as the unemployment insurance in relation to healthcare use, and how pupils’ school choices and completion rates are affected by parental layoff.
About the defence
Jarkko Harju, Tampere University, acted as opponent. Peter Skogman Thoursie, Department of Economics, was chairperson for the defence. The grading committee consisted of Arizo Karimi, Uppsala University, Martin Nybom, IFAU, and Sven Drefahl, Stockholm University. Also present were Miika Päällysaho’s two supervisors, David Seim, Department of Economics, and Arash Nekoei, IIES.
