Have you been admitted to a course or programme at the Department of English? Here we have gathered useful information for new students.

Welcome to our department! There are a few things to think about before you can start your studies. If you read this information and note what you have to do, you should have a smooth start and we hope you will enjoy your studies with us.

Course and programme information

Each course and programme has its own page with information.

The course page tells you how the course is structured, and has course literature and schedules ahead of each term. It also has important practical information that you need to know before you can start your studies, such as dates for registration ahead of each term. You have to register on time to keep your place on a course or programme.

Programme pages will have a programme overview but also practical information before the start of term 1.

Find your course or programme

Activate your university account

Before you can start your studies, you need to activate your university account. You need the account to register and gain access to all the university's IT services. Read the specific information for your course ahead of each term on the course or programme page.

Register on time

You need to register on time to confirm and keep your place. Registration dates for each course will be on the course page ahead of each term. Note that registration takes place before the start of term.

If you are admitted to one of our Master's programmes, you will receive information from the departments coordinating the programmes in literature and in language science.

Registration is done online for all our courses.

Once you have activated your university account, you can register online if you are accepted to the course without conditions. If you have problems with registering online, you have to contact our Student Affairs Office in good time before the last date to register. Read the specific information for your course ahead of each term on the course or programme page.

If you are conditionally admitted, the conditions have to be fulfilled in order to register and start the course.

Do you believe that you fulfill the eligiblity criteria for the course? Contact the Student Affairs Office during the registration period for the course, and in good time before the last date to register, so we can assess your eligibility.

Is your condition due to tuition fees but you have questions? Read the information on costs and fees, or contact the central services at Stockholm University.

If you have been placed on the reserve list, we will contact you by email if we can offer you a place after the regular registration period has closed. At times additional places may not become available until the term has started.

Places will be allocated according to the reserve list. We will use the email address you provided when you applied. If we can offer you a place, you need to respond quickly. Ensure you monitor your email regularly and also check your junk mail.

No longer interested in a reserve place? Withdraw your application so the next person on the list can be contacted instead.

Athena Learning platform

After registration or before the course starts, you will get access to Stockholm university's web-based learning platform Athena where course material will be made available by teachers. You log into Athena with your university account.
