Anna about our department and Campus Frescati

I've studied law and art history at Stockholm University before, but found my love for applied linguistics as I was writing my Bachelor's thesis on power relations in casual talk. Returning here was an easy choice due to that experience, and I've always enjoyed working here.

Anna Järvinnen

Anna Järvinnen enjoys several aspects of Campus Frescati.

There are lots of international students here, and English has become a sort of Lingua Franca on campus. Being a second language speaker of Swedish, language use has always fascinated me, so meeting people who are equally interested in language is a great joy.

I love the architecture, the corridors, the paintings and sculptures, the proportions of the buildings and also the auditory environment. To me, SU is the perfect place for thinking and working. There are social activities as well, and one that interests me is the language café, but spending time thinking, and understanding something I did not before is the main pleasure for me. The only problem now is what to write about in the final thesis.
