Research subjects
English studies is a broad field that cuts across traditional disciplinary boundaries to cover research into English-language literature, linguistics, culture, and education.
The research conducted at the Department of English broadly falls into four thematic strands:
- Comparative and global perspectives on English-language literature
- English and multilingualism
- English in education
- History of the English language and literature
We host several research projects funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, the Swedish Research Council, and other research funding bodies.
For the past few years, our Department has been ranked among the top 100 worldwide in the subject category ‘English language and literature’ by the QS ranking and the top 200 worldwide by the THE ranking.
