Internal

Information for you who are employed at the Department of Environmental Science.

Here are links to our internal resources, and some of Stockholm University's central resources. Here is also information that can be good for our employees to know.

New at ACES? Welcome!

At the Department of Environmental Science (ACES), we want all new colleagues to feel at home from day one. Every new employee is welcomed by their group leader and introduced to their workplace with the support of a mentor. Together, you and your mentor go through the ACES Introduction Checklist, which helps ensure that you meet key people, receive essential information, and get familiar with our routines, facilities, and safety procedures.

The checklist is designed to make your start as smooth as possible — covering everything from practical matters like access cards and IT setup to introductions to our research environment, policies, and work culture. Your mentor will guide you through the steps during your first weeks at ACES and make sure you have everything you need to get started.

Welcome to the team — we’re glad to have you with us!

Environmental work at the Department of Environmental Science

At Stockholm University, we work systematically to reduce our negative environmental impact and contribute to sustainable development through research, education, and our daily operations.

Our environmental work is guided by an Environmental Management System (in accordance with ISO 14001). This means we actively work to achieve set environmental goals and comply with current environmental legislation. As employees and staff at the department, we take collective responsibility for:

  • Sustainable Travel: We follow the university’s meeting and travel policy to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Daily Operations: We take active responsibility for waste management, chemical management, and sustainable procurement.
  • Continuous Improvement: We report environmental deviations and submit suggestions for improvement via the IA system to constantly refine our practices.

Each department has a designated Environmental Representative who coordinates local operations, while the Head of Department (Prefekt) bears the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that environmental work is implemented.

Find out more: Do you want to know more about the university's overall environmental policy, climate goals, or how the management system works in detail? Read more on the Staff web.
